[ Series ] – Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice
[ Character’s Name ] – Lestat de Lioncourt
[ Character’s Element ] – Air and Fire.

[ Character Profile ] – 600 years old, Lestat has worn a hundred different masks trying to find the one that really fits - Lord, actor, vampire princeling, benefactor, wanderer, rock star, angel of the Goddess and the Devil’s second. He’s still no closer to finding what it’s all about - but he’s in love with trying.

[ Appearance ] – Lestat stands just under six feet, and has the typical glamour of Anne Rice’s vampires - his dark gold hair falls in waves to his shoulders, alternately cut or styled as the whim and day takes him. The violet-blue eyes are alternately laughing or musing, occasionally mocking, set in a face that can now walk in the sun after the events of Queen of the Damned and Tale of the Body Theif. In love with all things human, his clothes change as often as his mood; flamboyant, brightly coloured silks and velvets, the black and silver of the vampire stereotype or the comfortable jeans and shirts of hsi peers.

[ Personality ] – 'Brat prince' describes Lestat pretty well - rarely considering the consequences of his actions, his bravery (stupidity) and curiousity once risked the world's near-destruction, and that hasn't deterred him one bit. Money means little to him, except in that it can provide him with the lifestyle he enjoys; expensive clothes, fast cars and bikes, and one-of-a-kind art pieces. Obsessed with mortals, he tends to fall in love with those he kills, addicted to their warmth and life even though he no longer needs to feed. Intelligent and with a wicked sense of humor, Lestat has long ago accepted that he is evil and unredeemable - and has gone on to 'live' life to the fullest.

[ History ] – Born six hundred years ago in rural France, the son of a country lord, Lestat ran away to Paris with his best friend to become an actor. There, he flourished; until he unintentionally drew the attention of a rogue vampire - Magnus, who worked the Dark Trick on him before casting himself into the fire and destroying himself. Lestat was left with a sanctuary and incredible riches, and managed fantastically with it.

Powerful, he inadvertedly ended the dark coven of Paris after turning his dying mother, Gabrielle, and together they left to travel the world, Lestat driven by a story told to him by the child-vampire Armand. Though he and Gabrielle eventually seperated, he managed to find Marius, the oldest living 'modern' vampire aside from the First Brood, and learned of their kind's history. Craving to stay and learn from Marius, still he was sent away, to 'live one human life' - which he messed up, badly, losing himself in the darkness and pain until he went to ground, effectively hibernating until modern times.

Rising again, he stunned the world - human and vampire alike - by becoming a rock star. Vampiric talent and Lestat's monetary backing ensured his band became a near-instant, world-wide success; and Lestat loved it, sharing vampire secrets with the mortal world through his songs, half-crazy with trying to make them see him for what he was, revelling in the fame, the glory, the adoration.

All of it came crashing down, however, when his songs woke Akasha, the first vampire and the mother of their race, from her mellenial sleep. Woken to believe herself a goddess, she stole Lestat for her consort and began to destroy almost all of the vampiric population, in preparation for her 'new world order' - world peace by the eradation of almost all human men; a bloodbath. Eventually overthrown by the remaining vampires, she nevertheless left her mark on her chosen 'angel'; feeding from her powerful, origonal blood gave him telekenesis, flight, teleportation, the ability to read thoughts and set objects or other vampires alight.

Another adventure saw him granted a human body, giving up his vampire one for another, though eventually he reclaimed his own once more, now far more content with his lot and his role as a blood-drinker now that the dissatisfaction of remembering a human life had left him. Almost instantly, he was talent-spotted by Memnoch, the Devil of religious beliefs - and shown both Heaven and Hell in an effort to convince him to become Saeten's second in command. This, however, he could not do - filled with a horror at the injustice and cruelty of the afterlife and the ones who relegated it, he fled, determined to defy both God and Memnoch and never die, cheating them both of his soul. Seeking a way to let his spirit-wounds of Hell's brutality heal, he decided to come to the peaceful world he'd heard so much about - seeking others, perhaps, to study and play with and help him forget.

[ Pets ] – None.
[ Other ? ] – Akasha's blood granted Lestat the power to work and play during the sunlight hours; though the rays do turn his skin a heathier looking golden shade, rather than pearl-white.
